Arthritis is irritation of the joints, which can trigger ache, stiffness and difficulty shifting. There are many types of arthritis, but the most common sort is osteoarthritis, generally referred to as “put on and tear” arthritis. With this kind of arthritis, the cartilage that cushions your joints breaks down, causing bone to rub against bone. Osteoarthritis also can trigger injury to other elements of the joint, including the tendons and ligaments, synovium and the bones themselves.
